Warm & earthy
This is the most classic, tried-and-true look. Neutral, earthy colors are a safe bet. If you’re adding some color to your outfits, try having one person wear a pop of color instead of small patterns. See how the orange just pops in these photos? It brings your eye to the subjects, not all the scenery around them. Also, don’t forget about your shoes! Avoid tennis shoes and brightly colored shoes, which are distracting. Keep jewelry and accessories to a minimum for a timeless look.
Flowy & boho
This flowy boho style is one of our favorites! It’s elegant, soft, feminine, and brings out the emotional connection between the subjects. Flowy dresses for the girls help show movement in the photos. And they’re super comfortable and flattering! Try to look for lacy dress or top in a soft, muted tone combined with earth tones. If you pick this theme, consider adding simple accessories like a fedora or floral halo to take your outfits to the next level. Don’t forget to keep the shoes neutral so the focus stays on you.
Casual
If you want to go a more casual route, this might be perfect for you. A simple shirt with pants or jeans can photograph beautifully. Again, you can never go wrong with earthy natural tones like mustard, maroon, brown, ivory, navy, olive, gray, and black. To create visual interest, try adding different textures like stripes, polkadot or a simple cardigan or sweater. Accessories like a cute hat or suspenders can add so much to the photos. Avoid being matchy-matchy. Instead, pick something that will complement each other and bring out your best features!
Home lifestyle
For a home session, being more casual and warm is the key. Muted earth tones always look great. Some people also go with soft pastel tones, which look good if your home is more open and airy. Mixing patterns and textures are a fun way to step up your photo outfit game. Just be sure that your prints and patterns don’t clash and overwhelm each other. It’s also a good idea to look at your home decor and wall colors to make sure outfits will work well with your surroundings.
